FTP Software

FTP is a way of transferring files from one computer to another on the Internet. You can use FTP with your personal Webspace to upload your Web pages, as well as to create new directories and to delete files. FTP stands for file transfer protocol.

Basic FTP software

The Sympatico software has basic FTP capabilities that let you publish (upload) files to your personal Webspace. For help with using your Sympatico software to publish files, see the Webspace section of Sympatico Help.

Advanced FTP software

A separate FTP program can let you add directories to and delete files from your personal Webspace. There are many different varieties of FTP software, and they can be downloaded from a shareware site like Tucows. Some common programs are WS-FTP and Cute FTP for Windows and Fetch for Macintosh.

Using advanced FTP software

Note: Sympatico Member Services does not provide support for the use of FTP programs.
