Changing your Sympatico
settings [ Your Account ]
BASIC INFO | Roaming | Dialup Settings | email & News Settings | Dialup Numbers | Sympatico settings lookup There are few instances in which you might want to change your Sympatico settings.
There are two methods for changing your settings: automatically and manually. Changing your settings manually is probably faster if you need to change just a couple of settings. The automatic method is easier and changes all your settings. The automatic method should only be used if you have lost all your settings and need to restore them. Automatically restoring your Sympatico software settingsYou can automatically restore your Sympatico settings if you have the Sympatico starter kit for dialup Internet access (this method doesn't apply to Sympatico High Speed Edition members). The method is different depending on whether you have Netscape Communicator 4 or Netscape Navigator 3, but both require that your use the Account Setup Wizard, which is part of your Sympatico software (CD-ROM or diskettes).
If you no longer have the Account Setup Wizard, you must reinstall your Sympatico software. Manually changing your settingsIf you know that you have only one specific setting to change, you can manually set up your software to access the Sympatico service. There are two groups of settings you can change manually: your email and news settings, which let you retrieve email and read news, and your dialup settings, which let you connect to the Sympatico service. You can also use the manual method if you want to use software other than that provided by the Sympatico service. Advanced users can find server addresses and the list of dialup numbers here:
It is not recommended that you attempt to change any of your Sympatico Internet connection settings unless you are confident that you know what you are doing with your software.
